doc Martin and panic attacks

June 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Caught  the annoyingly watchable Doc Martin long enough to see the storyline…Doc Martin has  a blood phobia and suffers panic attacks at the sight of it… (haemophobia)

Don’t know how realistic is how (would a Dr even start medical training if they had such a phobia? How likely would it be to develop? The fictional Doc was a surgeon)

I did ask an Air stewarsd recently if he’d known any flight staff develop a fear of flying. He knew of one case where a fellow steward NEVER flew on their offtime ie didn’t take advantage of very cheap flights available. When questioned , he was a bit touchy on the subject. And transferred to ground staff.

Still watching…now one of the mother’s is getting an anxiety attack after hearing her son has had an accident. Hyperventilating, calling for water etc…

I don’t remember PAs being portrayed on screen or maybe they just didn’tregister before…

Ghosts of Christmas past

December 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment

An old flame has turned up in the pages of Private Eye this week “Rehab doesn’t work, reveals hackette – but having a former Daily Express editor daddy to pay the bills does”. She did drink but got away with her outrageous behaviour as she was pretty gorgeous. I was rather more alarmed at her upchucking -especially after a rather nice Indian meal I had just forked out for – and would have thought she needed more help with that. Maybe she really is a better/nicer person without drink.
The story causes me to reflect on the past and tha is not a wholly good thing. This week I also found out one of the LOMLs (Love Of My Life) had maybe moved out of London as she now worked for a company based in Leicester. Even though I bitch about London constantly I can’t imagine swapping it for Leicester. She was almost perfect but a fatal flaw. Selfishness. We laughed at the same things and had the same taste and were soulmates she thought I was very funny and was always encouraging to do standup etc. However, she had once dated a guy who is now a reporter although a fairly obscure one. Despite this obscurity I was banned from watching BBC Brakfast in case he turned up! Strange behaviour over a ‘two boyfriends back’ guy!
Anyway , her self-centredness and my lack of success at the time did in for the relationship. There was someone else I had been seeing who was there for me when this girl wasn’t so I moved on. We kept in touch for a while. Selishness, a pretty fatal flaw I think. People can be forgiven a lot, even infidelity if not serial, but selfishness is a characteristic which runs through a person like the writing down the centre of Brighton Rock…
Kelly ReillyTonight I watched an excellent film though teh topic made me feel a bit queasy (being investigated by the fuzz rather than the body count). It featured not one but TWO gorgeous actresses, Katy Davis and Kelly Reilly. There are no really decent photos of Katy Davis on the web but take it from me she is gorgeous, with a fantastic body and a very sexy nose! Pity she was killed off early on the film.

Katy Davis
Katy Davis didn’t go to drama school (and obviously didn’t need to judging by performances I have seen so far. I’m sure I know her from somewhere, like we’ve met. She comes from Kingston, Surrey and I was kicking around Richmond, went to a Drama college nearby, so I guess it’s possible.
I’m missing acting again and am rueful of all those ‘you should be on the stage’ comments I’ve had over the years. Well, I have been on the stage (and the telly) but maybe should have stuck at it… I shall recount my tale of the horrendous round of Drama School auditions in another blog.
